FG declares Monday public holiday to mark Independence

The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.) on behalf of the Federal government has declared Monday, October 2, 2017, as a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria at 57.

In a statement released to the media, the Minister congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary. He urged Nigerians to sustain the collective efforts towards maintaining and strengthening the unity of the country.

This year, Nigeria's independence day celebration falls on Sunday, 1st October. As is the common practice, the holiday has been shifted to Monday 2nd to allow for even participation.
