THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWLEDGE TO HUMAN EXISTENCE. GST 112 TERM PAPER COMPLETE MATERIAL.

Topic: the importance of knowledge to human existence. (FREE SAMPLE – DO NOT COPY!!) THEME: THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWLEDGE TO HUMAN EXISTENCE SUB THEME: ROLES OF KNOWLEDGE IN HUMAN LIFE. KEYWORDS: KNOWLEDGE, IMPORTANCE, ROLES, HUMAN EXISTENCE

ABSTRACT Knowledge is powerful and important part of human existence. Knowledge is a powerful acquisition in life which, when given to someone, does not decrease. Our importance of knowledge to human existence, is and has always been the collective thought and experience of our forefathers, wise men who left behind a rich heritage and wealth of information. Even today, knowledge, (useful or useless at the moment) has an overriding role to play in human life. Herein is a discussion on the importance of knowledge to human existence. It has been remarked that while ignorance was the curse of God, knowledge was the important power of wings which carried one to heaven. A famous Sanskrit verse says that an educated person is honored everywhere. But this is not the domain in which knowledge has taken preeminence in human existence. Wherein do we then see knowledge exemplify itself in human existence? To find this answer would perhaps require from us an inquiry into the domains of knowledge, a firm understanding of which would definitely pave way into how, where and to what extent knowledge is indispensable to human existence since ancient times.

INTRODUCTION The importance of a knowledgeable person is immense. This perhaps is the first premise in adjudicating the importance of knowledge to human existence. Where ever knowledgeable person goes he is offered a place of reverence, a scat of authority, and he commands the hearing of everyone present. The power of knowledge lends him such distinction. It is knowledge that has equipped man with the limitless power with which man dominates over all beings who are physically much stronger than him. Knowledge has significantly helped him to conquer the nature and this conquest has prompted human progress and civilization. But then, two premises could be defined while discussing the importance of knowledge to human existence, or human life. The first is the fact that knowledge could bring about positive impacts in human existence, while on the other hand, knowledge could be totally destructive to human existence.

Books and Newspaper being the greatest sources of human knowledge, promote in us the feeling of one world. Literature, philosophy, and history are also great sources of knowledge as they enrich us with the realization of what we actually are. Every human being has a thrust for knowledge. Knowledge brings power to life. Those who have knowledge are capable of commanding others and ruling the world. But the power that comes from knowledge should be used for the progress of mankind and not be misused. They truly realize that humanity comes with knowledge even as power flows from it. Knowledge plays an important role in human life. Unfortunately in today’s world of strife and unending warfare, the power that is enforced at gun point is a liability and not an asset, but then Man never gets tired of continuing the quest for greater knowledge. His thirst for knowledge is never satisfied. Unfortunately, however, the power of knowledge is being used by many more and more for destructive purposes. This is undesirable. Let us hope that all human being will understand the power and importance of knowledge in life . Knowledge will promote our zest for life only. But what then is this knowledge?

THE MEANING AND SOURCES OF KNOWLEDGE There's the question of the truth of a claim. There is also the matter of our personal belief conviction for a claim. There are also issues about the evidence or justification that we have for a claim. As Locke (1689)

posits, tradition has it that these are the three key elements to knowledge: truth, belief and justification. For short, contemporary philosophers call this definition of knowledge justified true belief – often abbreviating it "JTB". The crucial point about this definition is that all three components must be present: if any one of the three is absent, then it doesn't count as knowledge.

Experiential Knowledge: Experiential (a posterior) knowledge is of many types, the most obvious of which involves perception. Each of our five senses is like a door to the outside world; when we throw them open, we are flooded with an endless variety of sights, sounds, textures, smells and tastes. When I look at a cow in front of me and say "I know that it is brown," the source of this knowledge rests upon my visual perception of. . . . . .TO ORDER COMPLETE COPIES SIMILAR TO THIS WORK, PLEASE CONTACT US

THE ROLE OF ETHICS IN NATIONAL EXISTENCE. GST 112 TERM PAPER COMPLETE READY MADE.

TOPIC: THE ROLE OF ETHICS IN NATIONAL EXISTENCE. GST 112 FREE SAMPLE TERM PAPER (DO NOT COPY!!) KEYWORDS: ethics, role, existence, national, ethics and national existence.

ABSTRACT In this paper we consider the role of ethics in national existence. definitions of some complex terms such as morality and ethics, as well as ethics and national existence, it is believe would help the reader understand the interdependency between ethics and national existence. The following is presented merely as a means to orient the reader and facilitate understanding of the remainder of the paper. Rather, the bane of this paper is on unraveling the relationship, and to what extent, in what way or manner, and for what purpose do ethical-national relations occur. It aims at highlighting and explaining the roles ethics play in national existence. In the circumstance, it tries as much as possible explain what National existence entails and hence points out basic standpoints, making a reflection on past experiences, thereby posing a way forward for future possibilities of ethics in national life. Specific to this work is the consideration of an aspect of ethics that relates with biodiversity, as well as other considerations in national existence. In the later end of the work we consider the non-ethical aspects of ethics and national existence, and how they affect us. Specifically, we are considering ethics and national existence. In the social sciences and particularly Mass Communication and Public Relations, ethics is central to what we do in our academic as well as practical engagements because ethics is critical to credibility in the gathering, processing and delivery of information for believability as well as national co-existence . These and many more remain the thrust of this paper.

INTRODUCTION Before we can consider the roles of ethics in national existence, perhaps it would not be out of place if we first of all acquaint ourselves with some rudimentary terms touching on the subject piece: Ethics and national existence. Some of these include, Morality, Ethics, Values etc. As posited by Crocker (1991) Morality refers to the social norms and values that guide both individuals and their interaction with their fellow human beings and communities, and with their environment. In all of these types of interaction there are important values touching on the role of ethics in national existence at stake; rules and norms that are to protect these values; duties implied in social roles and positions that can foster these values and further these rules; and human virtues or capabilities that enable us to act accordingly. These moral factors are usually interwoven with religious practices and social power structures.

Ethics is a systematic and critical analysis of morality, of the moral factors that guide human conduct in a particular society or practice. As fisheries represent an interaction between humans and the aquatic ecosystem, fisheries ethics deals with the values, rules, duties and virtues of relevance to both human and ecosystem well-being, providing a critical normative analysis of the moral issues at stake in that sector of human activities. Also, Mark (2014) submits that when actual moral values, rules and duties are subjected to ethical analysis, their relation to basic human interests shared by people, regardless of their cultural setting, is particularly important. From the viewpoint of the role of ethics in national existence, moral values may change, and moral reasoning asks whether the practices that are traditionally and factually legitimated by religion, law or politics are indeed worthy of recognition. Indeed, the development of ethics in the past century has been characterized by a tendency to revalue and overthrow the moral conventions that have guided the interaction between the sexes, between human beings and animals and between human beings and their environment. A more recent task of ethics is to resist those tendencies of globalization, marketization and technologization that erode both biodiversity and valuable aspects of cultural identity - and may even have effects that threaten human rights. Although these tendencies are often presented as value-neutral, they carry with them hidden assumptions that are potential sources of inequity and abuse. (Stevenson, 2001) Having been grounded in these aspects, lets now investigate the interdependencies that exist, if any, on ethics and national existence, or co-existence. . . . . .

FIFA suspends Nigeria

The world football governing body, FIFA, has suspended the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, with immediate effect from all activities in football. The suspension was announced in a statement released on their website this evening Wednesday July 9th.

FIFA said the suspension was due to government interference in football activities, particularly the controversial removal of the Aminu Maigari-led board of the NFF. A High Court sitting in Jos had on July 4th sacked Aminu Maigari and other executives from the board of the NFF. This suspension by FIFA means no Nigerian team or club can participate in any FIFA competition.

“As a result of this decision, no team from Nigeria of any sort (including clubs) can have any international sporting contact (art. 14 par. 3 of the FIFA Statutes),” FIFA said.

Read the full statement after the cut...

The FIFA Emergency Committee has decided today, 9 July 2014, to suspend the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with immediate effect, on account of government interference. Article 13, par. 1 and article 17, par. 1 of the FIFA Statutes oblige member associations to manage their affairs independently and with no influence from third parties.

The decision follows a letter sent by FIFA to the NFF on 4 July 2014, in which it expressed its great concern after the NFF was served with court proceedings and consequently an order preventing the president of the NFF, the NFF Executive Committee members and the NFF Congress from running the affairs of Nigerian football was granted by a High Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The said court order compelled the Nigerian Minister of Sports to appoint a senior member of the civil service to manage the NFF until the matter was heard in court, without giving any date for such a hearing. The authorities then appointed a person who decided to convene an extraordinary general assembly on 5 July 2014. This extraordinary general assembly was convened in violation of the NFF statutes.

Originally, an elective congress had been planned by the NFF to take place on 26 August 2014.

The suspension will be lifted once the court actions have been withdrawn and the properly elected NFF Executive Committee, the NFF general assembly and the NFF administration are able to work without any interference in their affairs.

As a result of this decision, no team from Nigeria of any sort (including clubs) can have any international sporting contact (art. 14 par. 3 of the FIFA Statutes). During the period of suspension, the NFF may not be represented in any regional, continental or international competitions, including at club level, or in friendly matches. The most immediate effect is that Nigeria will not be entitled to participate in the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (5-24 August 2014) should the suspension not be lifted by 15 July 2014.

In addition, neither the NFF nor any of its members or officials may benefit from any FIFA or CAF development programmes, courses or training during the suspension period.
