Eniola Badmus, her PA and the scene at the N17 Domestic Violence Walk

Is he not to young to be a PA?

The actress joined a group in Nollywood (mainly Yoruba actors) called the N17 to walk against Domestic Violence yesterday. The purpose of the group/walk is to speak against the inhumane treatment of house helps, staff and children.

But Eniola did something that contradicted the purpose of the walk when she asked her personal assistant to hold an umbrella over her when it started raining. See the irony? She's walking against the ill treatment of staff and asks her staff to hold an umbrella to shield her from the rain while he walked behind in the rain...lol.
The N17 called on all Lagosians to join in the walk against domestic violence in Nigeria. The group converged at LTV8 around 8am yesterday and walked from there to Ikeja under bridge and back to LTV8 with school children holding a banner

Actors in the group include; Yomi Fash Lanso (President of the group), Fathia Balogun, Foluke Daramola Salako, Moji Olaiya, Ayo Adesanya, Ronke Ojo (Oshodi Oke), Bisi Ibidapo Obe, Eniola Badmus, Saidi Balogun and a host of other celebrities. More pics below...

First photo of nun who gave birth and claimed she didn't know she was pregnant

Circled is the Salvadorean nun who said she had no idea she was pregnant when she gave birth to a baby boy last week.

33 year old Roxana Rodriguez, a nun with the order of the Little Disciples of Jesus, initially claimed she thought her labour pains were 'stomach cramps' when an ambulance rushed her to the hospital.

Her picture was published this weekend in the Italian daily newspaper, Corriere Della Sera. The new mum reportedly told her social worker:

'I am so happy. I feel more of a mother than a nun, I think that's obvious. I decided to call him Francis in honour of our wonderful south American Pope. I do not feel of guilt. I will be keeping him and bringing him up. He is a gift from God. I am little worried about all the publicity, not only in Italy but in El Salvador and all over the world. Everyone is talking about this and I don't think I will be able to return to my home country"

Sister Roxana took her vows and became a nun in the order last September and has since written an apology letter to the Church and her Mother Superior. She revealed that the father of her child is a man from her native El Salvador but has not named him. Continue...

A priest close to the new mum told the Italian magazine:

'It all happened last spring, around March or April time when she was back in El Salvador to get her passport renewed. She has not said who the father is but I understand he is an, shall we say, old flame of hers from when she was younger. At some stage I expect she will tell the father that he has a son and they will be reunited but I don't know when that will be.'

Nun gives birth in Italy, says she didn't know she was pregnant

She didn't know she was pregnant? Is she supposed to be pregnant? Find the report below...

A Salvadorean nun who said she had no idea she was pregnant gave birth in Italy this week after she felt stomach cramps in her convent and was rushed to hospital, Italian media reported on Friday.

The 31-year-old mother and her baby boy, who weighs 3.5 kilograms (9 pounds), are doing well and other new mothers in Rieti hospital have begun collecting clothes and donations for her, the reports said.

"I did not know I was pregnant. I only felt a stomach pain," the nun was quoted as saying at the hospital, the Italian news agency ANSA reported. Continue...

La Repubblica said she gave birth on Wednesday.

ANSA said the nun had named her baby Francesco (Francis) -- also the pope's chosen title and one of the most popular names in Italy, where St Francis of Assisi is the much-loved national patron saint. The hospital could not be reached for comment.

The nun belongs to the "Little Disciples of Jesus" convent in Campomoro near Rieti, which manages an old people's home and reports said she would keep the baby.

Her fellow nuns were quoted saying they were "very surprised".

Princess Dammy opens up on collapsed marriage, blames some of it on bloggers

In December 2013, comedienne Princess publicly announced the end of her 7-months marriage. In a new interview with Encomium mag, princess broke her silence on the collapsed marriage and said the press, especially bloggers wanted her marriage to collapse. Excerpts below...

There were some allegations that you were oppressing him financially. They cited an example of both of you in a restaurant where you made it obvious to everyone present that you were the one paying for what the two of you had eaten?

They were there abi? People can say anything. It doesn't matter. The truth is the truth. I did not discuss my marriage breakup with anybody except what I just told you. I am a celebrity, the other person is not a celebrity, so what do you expect? Any person can just sit down and start writing what you just told me without even knowing me. If Kanye West was dating a non celebrity and not Kim Kardashian, they will say the same thing. So if I wanted to make the reason public, I would have made it myself. But it is not necessary, marriage is between a couple. We did not take our marriage vow on the street. We took it before God. Me, I am not afraid of man. I am also afraid of God. Anything that happened between God and a couple is sacred. There is no need itemizing the reasons. What is that going to do? Is it going to make the other party happy? Is it going to make us happy? So it is between the person (husband), I and God.

Really I dont owe anybody the reason why my marriage broke up but they can sit down and start drawing up reasons for themselves. That is their problem. They have God to answer to. The most authentic news is the one you get from the source. I didn't want people to be speculating because I was already hearing many rumors, bla bla bla, even when we were still together trying to make it work. They kept on writing what they were not sure of. I remember there were times he would ping to say he see what they wrote again. The press, particularly the so-called bloggers, many of whom are not credible kept on writing things that were not happening at all. That is why I said now that the marriage has crashed, I hope they are now happy. I know few press men who are true to their professional ethics would not be happy with it (breakup) but the other ones that are not true to their professional ethics are the ones writing things that do not exist. But they are not God and cannot be more than God.

Man receives 20 lashes for being gay in Bauchi - BBC report

According to a report by the BBC, a 20 year old man in Bauchi received 20 lashes seven years after he stopped being gay. For real? My head hurts from reading all these. Find the report below...

A Nigerian man has received 20 lashes after an Islamic court in the northern city of Bauchi convicted him of homosexual offences.

Under Islamic law, courts can punish homosexual acts by stoning to death.

But the judge said he took into account that the Muslim man, Mubarak Ibrahim, 20, carried out the acts seven years ago, and had stopped the practice.

In Nigeria, homosexual acts are illegal under both Islamic and secular law and restrictions have been tightened.

Earlier this month, President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law a bill which bans same-sex marriages, gay groups and shows of same-sex public affection.

The new legislation applies throughout Nigeria. Most states in the predominantly Muslim north of Nigeria have adopted Islamic law, known as Sharia, since the end of military rule in 1999.

Along with Mr Ibrahim, 11 other Muslims and a Christian man were arrested last month accused by the authorities of being homosexuals.

He was also ordered to pay a fine of about $30 (£18).

Mr Ibrahim told the BBC he was relieved that Judge Nuhu Muhammad had been lenient on him and had not sentenced him to death.

The BBC's Ishaq Khalid was in court when Mr Ibrahim was lashed with a whip, made of animal skin smeared with oil.

Mr Ibrahim, who had pleaded guilty to the charge, was ordered to lie on a bench, and an official whipped his back in front of a packed courtroom, our correspondent says.

Mr Ibrahim screamed in pain while being lashed, but was able to walk afterwards, he adds.

The trial of two other men was adjourned to 23 January.

The fate of the nine other men arrested on the same charge is unclear but on Wednesday the Sharia Commission in Bauchi said the Christian would be tried by a "conventional court", not an Islamic court.

Dozens arrrested in Northern Nigeria as anti-gay law comes into force

According to this report, they have started arresting people suspected to be gays in the Northern part of the country. Here's an article I found on UK Guardian. Read below

Dozens of gay men are reported to have been arrested across northern Nigeria as police begin to enforce punitive new laws that criminalize same-sex marriages and membership of gay rights organizations.

Dorothy Aken'Ova, executive director of the country's International Centre for Reproductive Health and Sexual Rights, said that the legislation, hailed the "Jail the Gays" law, had led to mass arrests. Police in Bauchi state, she claimed, had a list of 168 purportedly gay men, of whom 38 had been arrested.

The laws, she cautioned, will endanger medical programmes combating HIV-Aids in the gay community. Nigeria has the second-largest HIV epidemic globally with an estimated 3.4 million people living with HIV.

Responding to the spread of anti-gay legislation,Kerry said: "The United States is deeply concerned by Nigeria's enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act. Beyond even prohibiting same-sex marriage, this law dangerously restricts freedom of assembly, association and expression for all Nigerians.

"[The law] is inconsistent with Nigeria's international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 constitution," he added. "People everywhere deserve to live in freedom and equality. No one should face violence or discrimination for who they are or who they love."

The London-based Human Dignity Trust, which supports legal actions around the world aimed at overturning anti-gay legislation, criticised both the Nigerian and Ugandan acts. Jonathan Cooper, the trust's chief executive, has described the Ugandan legislation as "a bleak day for human rights. The bill undermines Uganda's human rights protection, breaches its international treaty obligations and violates Uganda's own constitution".

One of the men whose legal challenges the trust supported, Roger Jean-Claude Mbede, 34, died this week after being removed from hospital by his family. He had been jailed in Cameroon for sending a text message to another man saying: "I'm very much in love with you".

Mbede, whose case was highlighted by the Guardian in 2012, was subsequently declared a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International.

His lawyer, Alice Nkom, said: "[Mbede's] family said he was a curse for them and that we should let him die."

Ruggedman speaks against recently signed anti-gay law

Rapper and businessman Ruggedman is one of the many celebrities against the recently passed ant-gay law. He took to twitter to voice his opinion. See his tweets below..

Dear TTB readers: What's your thoughts on Nigeria's anti-gay law?

President Jonathan yesterday Monday Jan. 13th reportedly signed a bill that criminalizes same-sex relationships and gay rights groups in Nigeria. The bill contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison.

Some people feel making this into law can get people unjustly killed or jailed and there are those who feel that Nigerians should be worried now because this is a homophobic country. And in all sincerity I am also worried. I hope incidences like Aluu4 doesn't become rampant. People who are mistaken to be gay can get lynched by a mob because our government has officially made it a crime. You know how we like to take laws in our own hands and enforce jungle justice. Hopefully this doesn't happen.

What's your say on the new anti-gay law?

Brymo & Chocolate City are Heading Back to Court on January 14

Brymo and Chocolate City are returning to court.

The legal battle between the Nigerian music star and his former label comes up on Tuesday 14th January 2014 at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The case was adjourned because the presiding judge as well as Brymo and his counsel were absent at the court appearance, which caused the case to be suspended.

I hope the two parties come to an amicable solution.

Does ‘juju’ work abroad?

The advent of colonialism and western civilisation had whittled down the acceptability of traditional religions in Nigeria through concomitant negative effects on culture and language. The continuous exodus of Nigerians from the misrule by subsequent governments back at home – in the early 1980s till date – gave vent to the disdain with which many Nigerians hold traditional religions.

Commenting on the efficacy of ‘sacrifices’ offered to gods abroad, the ‘Awise Awo Agbaye’ (Spokesperson of Ifa and Yoruba religion Worldwide) and former Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Wande Abimbola, said: “I have performed countless ‘sacrifices’ all over the world. Which country have I not gone to perform ‘sacrifice’? People invite me all over the world to come and do ‘sacrifice’ for them.”

He explained that ‘sacrifices’ done abroad are not less efficacious when compared to those done in Nigeria. “The materials used for ‘sacrifice’ differ from clime to clime. Ti a ba ri adan, ao fi odide se’bo, meaning “you improvise when you cannot readily find some materials for ‘sacrifice’ in a foreign land.” But such a ‘sacrifice’ will still be acceptable to the gods. My job is to make ‘sacrifice’ and I have made ‘sacrifices’ all over the world which had been accepted by gods.”

Abimbola, who faulted the non-declaration of a national day as holiday for traditional religion believers in the country, said it is wrong of government to sponsor only Christians and Muslims on pilgrimages – leaving out traditional religious believers. He said that he had honoured the invitation of Pope Benedict XVI on three occasions to visit Rome for holiday. “The Pope is my friend. I spent three weeks with him. I was with him in Assisi, where 300 religious leaders gathered. Yoruba culture and religion is widely accepted worldwide but it are unfortunate that the Yoruba back home are the ones condemning the culture and tradition. Brazil makes N18b annually from tourists who visit the country to see Yoruba gods and cultural artifacts,” the Ifa scholar said.

Insisting that Yoruba traditional religion is efficacious, Abimbola said, “Why do you think Muslims and Christians go to traditional priests in the middle of the night? If you gather 100 Christians or Muslims in a place, you will scarcely get a few, who don’t patronise traditional healers and diviners. Have you ever seen an Ifa priest, who sought protection from a Christian or Muslim cleric? But they (pastors and imams) come secretly to Ifa priests. When there is a theft, suspects are afraid to swear by Ogun, Sango or any of the Yoruba gods. Religion in Nigeria has become a huge money-making venture with foreign countries donating billions of naira to religious organisations in the country. If the Yoruba didn’t abandon their religion and culture, we would by now be the richest and strongest nation on earth.”

Commenting on the challenges faced by Ifa worshippers in the UK and USA, renowned Ifa scholar and Araba of Osogbo, Ifayemi Elebuibon recalled: “Ifa worship is efficacious. Ifa is a body of knowledge of Yoruba worldview. We have millions of Ifa believers across the globe. But we encounter some difficulties in the course of worship abroad.” Elebuibon explained that animal ‘sacrifice’ is performed in the UK and US by Ifa priests, who are also known as Babalawo, adding that the choice of the place of ‘sacrifice’ is determined by Ifa. He said, “We perform ‘sacrifice’ anywhere the gods direct us. The gods could choose a park, a road path or an intersection.”

Recalling an episode where a ‘sacrifice’ was billed to be performed in the US, Elebuibon said, “In 2008, an Ifa worshipper in the US brought a ram in a cab to Harlem, Manhattan, New York. He was coming to use the ram for ‘sacrifice’. Unknown to him, as he alighted from the cab with the ram, somebody, probably an animal rights activist, telephoned the police and also called the animal rights community, newspaper, radio and television reporters.

“We were on the third floor of a five-storey building and the ram was in the basement. The police soon swooped on the building. They combed everywhere and rescued the ram. If we had killed the ram before their arrival, there would have been trouble. But Ifa traditional worshippers have got injunctions from courts, allowing us to slaughter rams for ‘sacrifice’ because we ‘sacrifice’ to redeem lives. Other religions are allowed to kill rams, so the same measure should apply to us.”

Recalling another episode, Elebuibon said on his first trip to Miami Beach, Florida, in 1978, an American adherent had a ‘sacrifice’ of eggs, banana and some other ingredients. “The beach is always under security surveillance 24 hours daily because the ocean is used by Cubans who want to cross into America. The policemen accosted us as we were moving away from the beach. They asked us what we were doing; we told them that the adherent was having a ‘sacrifice’. Instead of going to see the spot where we had the ‘sacrifice’, they just departed. It was curious because you will expect that they would want to check what a ‘sacrifice’ looked like. They just departed. Ifa worship is efficacious.”

Unlike the challenges of poverty, violence and illnesses afflicting Nigerians back at home, Elebuibon said a cross-section of Nigerians living in the UK and USA consult Ifa for husbands, victory in court cases and in search of jobs, pointing out that “they don’t request to be rich or request Ifa to give them children; some of them don’t even want to have children.”

According to the Ifa priest, chicken, kola, pigeon and snail importation are forbidden by the US immigration laws. “We go to Chinatowns in the USA. You know the Chinese live together and they are permitted by law to have these items. So we buy from China town. In the absence of kola, which we use for divination, we use coconut which we break into four small pieces,” he said.

A Nigerian, who lived in Britain for six years, Bola Alawode, said he saw ‘sacrifices’ on many occasions while studying in London. He said, “I remember the first was in 1989 when I went to visit a friend in North Peckham Estate. The ‘sacrifice’ had some food like rice, beans with palm oil toppings. When I informed my host, he laughed and said it was not new there. My host went ahead to tell me that sometimes, the ‘sacrifices’ could be in form of raw rice, beans etc spread on the floor. When I was living in Daubeney Tower, Bowditch Road, Deptford. London SE 8, I came across ‘sacrifice’ on two occasions. One of snail, local sponge and palm-oil at the car park and another that consisted of boiled egg, moinmoin and other stuffs. My wife once called my attention to a ‘sacrifice’ placed close to the children playing ground behind the Estate when we were living at Cranbrook Point, North Woolwich Road, London E16.

Alawode, who was a part-time mini cab driver in the city of London continued, “I have spotted ‘sacrifices’ on many roads, so did my colleagues. We used to joke about them. I remember Charles, a Calabar friend, will always jokingly call our attention to it when he sees one while on duty saying ‘one of your lazy ngbati-ngbati (meaning Yoruba) brothers has been duped again. This will generate exciting discussion among us.

“Many people don’t normally get to see these things because of the efficient road cleaning system which ensures that the roads are swept clean before dawn. I don’t even think the gods that the ‘sacrifices’ are meant for get to see them, let alone eat them before they are trashed by night sweepers. I saw ‘sacrifices’ in London while my colleagues mentioned seeing ‘sacrifices’ in Liverpool and Manchester City.”

A Nigerian-born Briton, Yewande (not real name), who is resident in London said she had seen ‘sacrifices’ in parks.

She said, “I have seen ‘sacrifices’ in parks and areas not covered by CCTV cameras. I’ve seen ‘sacrifices’ on Old Kent Road, South-East London. One of the ‘sacrifices’ I saw contained kola and palm oil. I’ve also seen a ‘sacrifice’ I suspect was done by white garment church member(s) because it contained coconut, palm fronds and olive oil.”

A Brazilian indigene of Salvador, Bahia, Ifawumi Sangoponnle Fawehinmi, who spoke with our correspondent online, described himself as a child of Ifa. He said, “I want to raise the name of Ifa orisa and Yoruba culture here in Brazil and also in other countries in the Diaspora. Ifa, Ori, Esu, Ogun, Sango, and Egbe are the gods I believe in.”

When asked who performs ‘sacrifices’ for him, Fawehinmi said, “My Oluwo, Nathan Aikulola Fawehinmi, who currently resides in Miami, USA, is the one that prepares the ‘sacrifices’ for me. He (Oluwo) travels to Osogbo every year. We find all materials for practice of worship and this name that I bear was received during the initiation ceremony. I know its meaning.”

A Chief Lecturer in Arts and Social Sciences Faculty, Federal College of Education, Osiele, Ogun State, Dr. Sunday Makinde, buttressed the efficacy of ‘sacrifice’ and divination outside the shores of Nigeria. Makinde is the Baba Egbe, Egba Hunters Association, Odeda, and the President, Onisegun Association, Osiele.

“‘Sacrifice’ and divination are done abroad and the gods accept them. I have done these for people abroad. Transporting juju across oceans doesn’t reduce its efficacy. People abroad consult me to prepare materials for their wellbeing and I do. They give reports that the materials worked for them,” Makinde said.

Former Aston Villa footballer, Thomas Hitzlsperger, comes out as gay

31year former Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham & German midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has come out as gay. But he waited to retire from football before revealing his sexual preference.

Hitzlsperger, who retired in September 2013 due to a knee injury yesterday told a German newspaper

"I'm coming out about my homosexuality because I want to move the discussion about homosexuality among professional sportspeople forwards. In England, Italy & Germany being a homosexual is no big thing, at least not in the dressing room"

"The awareness of being gay was a long and difficult process. Only in recent years has it dawned on me that I would prefer to live with another man. I've never been ashamed of my sexuality"

John Fashanu's brother, Justin Fashanu and US footballer Robbie Rogers were the first footballers to come out as gay. Hitzlsperger was probably wise to wait to retire before revealing this to the world.

An indonesian man covered with tumours all over his body

An Indonesian man whose body is covered by hundreds of tumours has made a final plea for help as the rare condition robs him of his sight.

Slamet, from East Java, is believed to be suffering from neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition which causes uncontrollable growths along the nerves. According to his brother Suwadi, the 59-year-old had a tumour removed from his waist in 1991. But six months later tumours began to form all over his face and body.

Years later the condition has become intolerable and Slamet suffers constant pain throughout his body. Recently the tumours have started blocking his nostrils, making it difficult for him to breath

Slamet is now unable to work and relies on handouts.

Neurofibromatosis is the name for a number of genetic conditions that cause swellings or lumps. Although many people who have the condition inherit it from one of their parents, up to 50 per cent develop it randomly from a gene mutation before they are born.

Despite their alarming appearance, the growths and swellings - called neurofibromas and caused by a growth of cells - are not cancerous or contagious.

Singer Ciara writes an open letter to bloggers

Lol every one now wants 2 write an open letter..

Ciara writes on her personal blog,

I used to sometimes like visiting some of the blog sites to see what new things are happening in the world! Things like cool photos, current events, etc. But nowadays it seems like there's a competition with sites on "Who Can Tear Someone Down the Most." The stories are going from cool and creative to pure drama. Even the comment sections are beginning to get out of control and people are using the platforms to exercise a false sense of power.

People sure do have a lot of courage when they are anonymous. It's like a "Who Can Say the Nastiest Comment Game." I click onto some of the comments from something as fun as an Instagram post that you're sharing with your fans, and a person finds a way to turn a positive post into a negative. I think to myself, "I could pick this person apart so bad but what for? Why act ugly like them?" It honestly takes the fun out of it when people seem so miserable.

Or at least that's how I view someone wasting their energy to tear someone down, just plain miserable. They could be using that to do something much more productive. If only they could channel their energy towards positivity, it could make a difference in their own life as well as influence others. It's kind of scary for the kids coming up, because even if a parent doesn't allow their kids to have blog site access at home, they may still have access at school or other places. It's now almost impossible to protect your kids from the vile things people say on blog sites today, and it's even worse when kids hear hurtful things about themselves, their parents or other family members. In some cases kids have even resorted to suicide due to "cyber-bullying."

My questions to people creating slander about people are:

What stops you from thinking twice about trying to defame someone? What are you trying to gain?

Words are powerful. You could say the wrong thing about someone, famous or not, on the wrong day and that could cost them their life because they're at a weak point. Believe it or not, you could also be encouraging them to give up on their life or whatever the situation is, when they shouldn't. Or what about a story that causes unnecessary drama stemming from completely false information? It's just flat out wrong and sad. I say to myself, I thank God for making me strong, because I've always been able to use the negativity as motivation, and it makes me stronger.

But I don't just think about myself in this, I think about others that I see getting thrashed and think it's just so wrong. It's very sad that people just want to tear people down so bad just to see them unhappy. It's unbelievable how far people are willing to go to get people to come to their site.

I say this to say....

Dear Blogger,

It's never worth it in the end when you sell your soul for a quick dollar, by creating bad stories about people. At some point, it will all reverse on you and you'll end up regretting all the trash you wrote or said about people.

The universal friend "Karma" has demonstrated this over and over again. I strongly encourage you to project more positivity into the universe. If Social Media is a world that's growing more massive by the day, why not use it to shed light?? Otherwise, you are merely contaminating our universe.

What about your family and kids?? Do you think about them?? You're definitely creating a harmful and volatile environment where they must learn to live. It's almost like you are cursing future generations with your bad energy.

Not to mention...Your "Personal Karma"??... Forget about it!

You better start doing some serious praying and rebuking, cause only The Lord knows!...:)

I sure do miss the good old days when the focus was about the pure creativity of being an artist. Back then there was still some mystery. Social Media Is Beginning To Take Away The Specialness of What That Was, and Is.

Now, Off Blogs. Peaceful Mind. Living In My Happiness. Creativity Only.

Love, C
