The Nigerian Army claims it has identified and arrested two soldiers who brutalized a cripple man for wearing camouflage outfit in New Market Road, Ontisha, Anambra State in a video that went viral yesterday. The army in a statement released by 11.50pm on Wednesday said the soldiers have also been charged by their commanding officer in line with the military's zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts in relation to violation of human rights. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.Gen. Sani Usman, said: “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a video clip in which two soldiers were seen maltreating a physically challenged person for allegedly wearing a camouflage shirt. “We wish to inform the public that the incident took place on Tuesday 7th February 2017, at Onitsha, Anambra State. “In line with our zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts especially in relation to violation of human rights, we wish to further state that the soldiers involved have since been identified and apprehended. “They have also been charged for assault by their Commanding Officer. Apostle Suleman gets invitation to White House...thanks people, celebrates wife

Act of gratitude is not only beneficial to someone receiving the praise, but even more so, to the one who shows gratitude. On this score, the president and founder of Omega Fire Ministry worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has sent his warm appreciation to Nigerians, Africans and the world in general for their exceptional show of love during his recent encounter with the Department of the State Security (DSS). Suleman, who is regarded as one of Africa’s most popular pastors at the moment in his thank you message during the kick-off of this year’s edition of the annual ‘The Ebenezer’ programme to mark the ministry’s 13thanniversary, said: “I’m grateful to all. I never knew I was so loved. For the first time ever, fellow Nigerians behaved like Americans. Nigerians naturally have business-like mentality but I was shocked that on this particular issue, 90 percent of Nigerians spoke with one voice, saying enough is enough. We were not fighting any government, we just declared our stand that we are not cowards and we cannot be cowed by fear. I was so shocked at the level of strength and courage that I had throughout the period. And the courage I surmounted was aided by the love and exceptional concern shown me from all over the world. From over 70 nations, I received a lot of phone calls and text messages from people showing their love and compassion. I got messages of love from different people that I have never even met. I got up to 18,000 different text messages. I read and read. The solidarity was overwhelming. I was moved to tears,’ states the man of God. Furthering, Apostle Suleman said; “One thing that first moved me was when I got to Abuja to see the DSS, the crowd I saw almost made me to go into hiding. The crowd was so massive that they were ready to take bullets on my behalf. It moved me. The love shown was not just about me but for what they believe in and it gave me so much courage and made me to realize that I was not alone. I’m not taking it for granted, that’s why I’m saying thank you to all. I have to confess that I’m yet to recover from that show of affection. I therefore want to enjoin Nigerians that in whatever situation that we find ourselves, they should keep hearing our voice and I want them to know that one day, things would be fine. Meanwhile, the firebrand cleric will be visiting the White House, the American seat of power, in March. According to a reliable source from the church, Apostle Suleman's planned visit was on the invitation of the Mayor of Washington. We gathered that during the august visit, the man of God will have a prayer session with both the Mayor and the president of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump. The invitation, the source notes, was in recognition of Suleman's selfless service and commitment to humanity and delivering souls. The Ebenezer programme of OFM started on Wednesday 8th of February, 2017, with people from 32 countries of the world arriving Auchi, the headquarters of OFM worldwide. This year’s programme themed ‘From Glory To Glory’ will end on Sunday 12th. For 13 years, the mission that has now spread into six continents of the world, with the resilience of Apostle Suleman, has brought salvation to millions, healing and deliverance to a lot more, restoration and settlement to very many more. Also, the church is warming up for the birthday celebration of the matriarch of the ministry, Reverend Dr. (Mrs.) Lizzy Suleman on Sunday, February 26th 2017, although the birth date is February 28th. The source adds that ‘an unusual gift’ awaits the OFM queen from her caring husband, Apostle Suleman.

Newly released documents reveals Osama Bin Laden allowed jihadists to masturbate

The US seized a lot of documents from the compound of Al-Qaeda founder, Osama Bin Laden during the 2011 raid in which he was killed. Due to national security and sensitivity issues, most of those documents have not been released to the public. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) recently released one such file which sheds light on Osama's liberal views towards masturbation. In a memo marked top secret, he wrote to one of his trusted aides in North Africa saying that in the extreme conditions of being kept separate from their wives, the terrorists could masturbate. In the letter, he wrote:

HIV Positive woman tells her story...says she slept with over 100 men when she was in her 20s

Feminist Karen Fratti took to the website redbookmag.com to speak out about her experience living with HIV. In her write up, she said she's slept with over 100 men just when she was in her 20s. Wow! Read below... I was living in New York City with a boyfriend I’ll call Matt when I was diagnosed with HIV. I was 28 and he was just hitting 35. It was my first steady, long-term relationship, and we did what I used to think of as “grown-up” things. Like having Sunday football parties or fighting in Home Depot about what color to paint an accent wall in our living room. We made complex weekday dinners to distract ourselves from the fact that we were both pretty bored with each other. Of course, I wasn’t really grown up, because I had never even been tested for HIV at my yearly checkup at Planned Parenthood, where I went for primary care. Taking care of your health is more adult than playing house with a boyfriend, yet, even though I had been tested for STIs, I had never thought of getting an HIV test. But one day, randomly, I added the HIV rapid test to the list of things to do before intake to my pap smear appointment. I thought it was a formality I should finally take care of. The positive result almost didn’t compute at first. What does that mean? I kept asking the nurse who took me upstairs at the Margaret Sanger Center in the East Village for a second blood test to confirm the rapid test result. I was in shock that simply sleeping with probably close to a hundred men throughout my 20s — in college, in Rome, Italy, where I lived for five years, in New York City upon my return — and not being strict about using condoms could have such a serious consequence. I grew up during the HIV/AIDS crisis and should have known better, but as a heterosexual woman, I equated safe sex with not getting pregnant more than with getting an STI, let alone HIV. I know how that sounds. It’s embarrassing to admit that now, but I really did ignorantly think sex was all fun and games. For me, “dating” was basically a euphemism for casual sex. I had no type, no goal, really, and a bad one-night stand was just as much as fun as one that turned into a mini-romantic fling. I naively thought I was invincible, that one day a hookup would lead to true Disney princess-style love, and never assumed that HIV would have anything to do with my life. After my diagnosis, Matt and I stopped making dinner together, speaking to each other and sleeping in the same bed. (He was negative and had been getting tested his entire life.) We broke up within the year. There was a positive aspect to my HIV, though I didn’t know that then. It woke me up and made me realize what I needed and wanted from a partner. Matt had never been a good match for me, really; my diagnosis just shined a spotlight on that. The only bad thing about breaking up with Matt was the realization that I would have to start dating again. But when you’re the kind of person who equates dating with dinners, drinks and casual sex, HIV can put a real damper on all that.

Meet the 14 years old girl that can fly

Fourteen-year-old indoor skydiver Kyra Poh was crowned the "world's fastest flyer" in one of the sport's biggest competitions, the Wind Games. She tells the BBC's Tessa Wong what it takes to soar to the top. Riding winds as fast as 230km/h (143mph), Kyra flips and whirls around the arena, a small blur of white spandex in a giant vertical wind tunnel. In the air the Singaporean teenager makes it all look effortless - a combination of dancing and floating - but in reality it is hard work. "You use all your muscles for this sport. Even those muscles you never knew existed, they will start to ache. Even your wrists will hurt," she tells the BBC from Spain. About 200 indoor skydivers competed at the Wind Games held in Catalonia in Spain at the weekend- Kyra was not only among the few females who took part, but also one of the youngest. It was her first time competing against adults in a large-scale competition. But she easily beat them to win gold medals in the solo speed category, where a routine must be completed in the fastest time possible, and the freestyle category, where competitors are graded on their choreography and the difficulty of their moves. She says being smaller and lighter than her competitors did not give her an advantage. In fact, she thinks it made things more difficult. "A lot of people think that if you're lighter, you're faster. I don't think so. Because when you're small, you have less body surface area, so you can push off less wind. If you're taller, you can push off more and have more force," she says. Kyra won the gold medal in the junior freestyle category at the FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving, held in October last year in Poland. 'I forget I'm flying' Kyra fell into the sport accidentally. When she was nine her mother, an advertising executive, was hired to create commercials for indoor skydiving facility iFly in Singapore, and they needed a child to appear in their adverts. "My mum asked me to try it out. I said yes. I really wanted to fly... and it was really exciting. "When I first jumped in, I was nervous. But now these days when I go in, sometimes I forget I'm flying. The wind is so fast, sometimes when I fly, it feels like something is holding me up instead of me floating," she says. Kyra practices three times a week after school, and more frequently during competition season. Each session takes hours - flying repeatedly can be gruelling, and she can only fly in short spurts of three minutes before taking a break. She also regularly does long stretching sessions to improve her flexibility. Unlike most female indoor skydivers, Kyra does not have a gymnastics or dance background. But she tries to make up for that in other ways. "Female competitors tend to have a very graceful style and are very flexible. So I try to incorporate that in my routine with powerful, aggressive moves which men use, that are very technical and fast," she says. Indoor skydiving is a very new sport, but Kyra sees it as her lifelong passion and hopes to be a professional athlete. "When I was smaller I used to draw pictures of myself flying over Singapore. I even wanted to be an astronaut, to float in zero gravity. "Humans are not meant to fly, but that has always been my dream. Now I can fly in a tunnel, so I'm glad to find this sport."

Breakthrough: Michael Okpara varsity discovers cure for HIV/AIDS

Prof. Francis Otunta, the Vice Chancellor (VC), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in Abia, has confirmed the discovery of a new drug for the treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS. Otunta told newsmen at the university campus on Wednesday that the finding followed years of scientific research by the institution. He said that the breakthrough was made by Prof. Maduike Ezeibe, a researcher in the university. According to him, Ezeibe had presented the drug to the University management, Senate and Council, where he explained the processes he went through to arrive at his finding. Minister of Health, Prof Issac Adewole during his HIV test. The VC also said that Ezeibe had equally presented the drug to his colleagues in the medical field and nobody had contradicted his finding. “Prof. Ezeibe is a researcher in Veterinary Medicine and one may wonder how he discovered a drug to cure a human ailment,” he said. He commended Ezeibe for the breakthrough, saying: “He has brought honour to the University and we are proud of him.” Otunta said that the university was in the process of mass producing the drug for further clinical trials on persons living with HIV/AIDS in the country. Ezeibe, who is a professor of Veterinary Medicine and Clinical Virology, said that the drug was produced with Aluminum Silicate and Magnesium Silicate (Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate). He said that the two minerals “are already in use as medicines for the treatment of various animal and human diseases”. He said that 10 persons living with the disease, “who volunteered’’, were made to apply through their doctor to the VC. “They were treated daily with the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate (50 mg/kg),” he said. Ezeibe said that the volunteers were subjected to monthly tests for viral loads and CD4-lymphocyte counts. “With the antiviral effects of the medicine, its ability to reach all cells (as nanoparticles) and the lymphocytes, there is no more hiding place (sanctuary) for HIV,” he said. He said that the medicine had been used to potentiate Ampicilin, Chloroquine, Piperazine and Sulphadimidin, among others, and could be a major foreign exchange earner for Nigeria, if approved by relevant authorities. According to him, “local and international pharmaceutical companies would find the product as a veritable raw material”. Ezeibe said that he presented the research findings to the World Virology Conference in Atlanta in 2015, and Antonio (Texas) in 2016. Besides, he said that the results of the laboratory tests had been published in many international scientific journals, including the British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, among several others. He said that he was also about to sign a memorandum of understanding with a U.S.-based Scientific Research Publishing, publishers of World Journal of AIDS, for the publication of his book “How I came about the cure for HIV/AIDS”. Ezeibe, who said that the medicine was patented in August 2014 in Nigeria, called on the Federal Government to help him to secure international patency for the drug. He said: “If commercialised, the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate would become an alternative for petroleum to the Nigerian economy.” Source: vangurd
