photo:BUS crushes soldier to death in Lagos

This horrible accident happened yesterday Monday Sept. 23rd along the Alaka/Costain crossover bridge in Surulere. The driver of one of the buses in the state mass transit scheme lost control of his bus and crashed into a soldier riding a motorcyle on the express. The yet-to-be identified soldier was cut almost into two by the bus. (Too graphic.
According to my source who witnessed the accident, the driver was on top speed when he lost control of the vehicle as he approached a bad spot on the dilapidated bridge. The driver, while trying to avoid the bad spot, swerved to the left pinning the soldier on the railing of the bridge. The bus dragged the soldier for a bit and cut through his bowel.
Eyewitnesses said the soldier, who died on the spot, was carrying a woman on the back seat of the motorcycle, and was flung away from the impact of the collision. She survived the crash but is in a critical condition in the hospital. The driver of the bus fled the scene after seeing the extent of the damage and so did the passengers of the bus a few minutes later, fearing attack from soilders

72 yr old billionaire Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu marries 26year old bride

Two years after loosing his wife of 40 years, Eudora, to cancer, 72 year old billionaire businessman and chairman of Champion newspaper, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has given marriage a second shot.

Chief Iwuanyanwu married 26 year old Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem (pictured above with him), the daughter of one of his late wife's close friends, on Saturday September 14th (traditional wedding) and this past Saturday September 21st (white wedding) in Owerri, Imo State.

The new bride, who doesn't have the blessings of the Chief's children (mostly because of the age gap) is said to be expecting her first child with the extremely rich businessman cum politician.

Chief Iwuanyanwu has his hands in various businesses cutting across over 20 sectors of the economy. He is the founder of the Iwuanyanwu Football club now known as the Heartland FC.

Model and video vixen Marie Miller wins Miss Earth Nigeria 2013

Popular model and video vixen Marie Miller beat 23 other contestants to emerge the 2013 Miss Earth Nigeria queen. The event held last night at Oriental Hall, Lekki. Marie went home with a brand new 2013 Toyota Avensis and N3million one year salary. She will also represent Nigeria at the Miss Earth pageant later this year. Congrats to her. Sorry about the picture quality... So from left is reality star and hip hop artist Karlie Redd, Hollywood actor Boris Kodjoe, Amber Rose and Ini Edo who all served as judges at the pageant. It was strange how Ini and Amber never exchanged words through out the event despite sitting next to each other...:-)

After years of refusing to fix his crooked teeth, saying his fans loved his trademark grin, 2-time FIFA World Player of the Year winner (2004/ 2005) Ronaldinho has changed his mind and finally gotten it fixed. The Brazilian football superstar paid $58,000 to have his teeth realigned, and gums altered.

Rohaldinho had the procedure at an orthodontic clinic in Brazil last month but the photos and video of the surgery were only released to the public two days ago. See the before and after photos below.

According to a press release sent out by his PR people, Ekiti state born dancer turned music sensation May D recently moved into his new 6-bedroom duplex in Magodo Phase II GRA said to be worth N150million. They didn't say rented, they said bought, hence my headline. Big congrats to May D. Is his spending much?

142 corpses recovered after Boko Haram highway massacre

I'm sure you guys have been reading about all the killings perpetuated by Boko Haram in the past few days in the Northern part of the country. They are going to homes, highways and just killing people.

Just yesterday 142 bodies were discovered and evacuated from the highway and surrounding bushes in Borno state by officials of the Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA) after travelers were ambushed, removed from their cars and killed on the Maiduguri/Damaturu highway on Tuesday Sept 17th by Boko Haram members who dressed up as soldiers and set up checkpoints.

The officials said they believe there are more bodies they are yet to find but plan to keep searching.

The gunmen, said to be over 300 in number, also stormed Benisheikh town in Borno state on Wednesday, killing civilians, soldiers, policemen and setting houses, cars and motor cycles ablaze.

The military post in the area and the local government secretariat were also attacked with rocket-propelled grenades.

The governor of the state promised people who lost loved ones or property N250,000 each as compensation and promised to rebuild the destroyed town. He described the attack as barbaric and un-Islamic.

The attack is believed to be in retaliation of a military strike on a Boko Haram camp last week that left about 150 members dead.
